Jouw natuurlijke EHBO-kit voor op reis: wat neem je mee?

Your natural first aid kit for traveling: what do you take with you?

Heading off on a sunny holiday, to the mountains, or to an unfamiliar destination? Proper preparation prevents stress and discomfort. That's why a well-prepared first aid kit is crucial. It's a lifesaver for insect bites, minor wounds, or chapped skin after a day in the sun. Do you, like us, want to keep your travel supplies as pure as possible? Then read on! In this blog, we'll inspire you with a few natural remedies for your first aid kit.

1. Natural support for discomfort

For minor discomfort, such as a headache or tired muscles after an active day, you can consider herbal support.

Arnica (arnica) and Willow bark have been used for centuries in herbal traditions from various parts of Europe. In the Alpine regions, Arnica is applied externally in rubs for muscle heaviness or after a bruise. Willow bark was used in herbal teas in ancient times – it was valued as part of a soothing approach. These herbs are also added to creams and ointments today and are a wonderful addition to a natural first aid kit.

In addition, our Pure Eden® peppermint oil A handy product for your travel kit. The fresh scent and cooling sensation on the skin can be pleasant when you're feeling a bit tense. A drop (diluted!) on the temples or forehead can have a refreshing effect.

2. Skin irritations: for abrasions and minor cuts

Minor mishaps like scrapes, cuts, or rough patches are common while traveling. Instead of an ointment with synthetic additives, consider a product with plant extracts.

Calendula (marigold) is a well-known flower in natural skincare. It was already cultivated in monastery gardens in the Middle Ages for use in soothing ointments for rough patches and cracks – a first-aid plant par excellence.

Our Calendula cream is a gentle, nourishing cream formulated with ingredients including almond and grapeseed oil, rose hydrosol, and witch hazel. It's easy to apply and ideal for skin irritations.

3. Care for sunburn and dry skin

Spending a lot of time outdoors means sun, wind, water—and sometimes dry or sensitive skin. Gentle skincare helps keep your skin in good condition.

Shea butter and Aloe Vera are used worldwide to care for and moisturize the skin. Shea butter has been used for generations in West Africa for dry skin, while aloe vera is known for its soothing properties during sun exposure.

Make sure you choose products with a high content of pure Aloe Vera (without additives) and 100% pure shea butter, so that your skin benefits optimally from the soothing properties.

4. Insects: protect and soothe

On vacation, you might encounter mosquitoes, ticks, or other insects. They cause irritation, bumps, or itching – and are sometimes difficult to avoid. To keep these creatures at bay, people often opt for a chemical repellent like DEET. Fortunately, there are also natural alternatives.

Essential oils Insect repellents like citronella, eucalyptus, lavender, and tea tree have scents that many insects prefer to avoid. They are therefore used in sprays or rollers and leave a refreshing feeling on the skin.

In addition to our Pure Eden® Essential Oils you can also think of our Teekaway. This is a natural blend of essential oils like lavender, tea tree, and eucalyptus. Simply apply it to your skin before going outside. The essential scents diffuse into the air and keep insects at bay.It is an effective and natural addition to your first aid kit.
